I terribly miss the old star 93 format. I miss the morning dj’s and dance music to get me going in the morning. I find myself turning off the radio completely instead of listening to songs that I wasn’t crazy about when they came out in the 80′s, 90′s, etc. Please bring back my comfort zone.

YOu people are crazy. I love the fact that there are no dj’s expecially in the morning….if you need a voice to listen to go to every other radio station if you just want to relax in an already high stressed situation (damn Boston traffic) then listen to Mike. The only thing I wish is they would play more 80′s I miss the 80′s music….that 70′s crap is so awful and played on like 6 other radio stations…overdone overplayed. We need a radio station that is almost dedicated completely to the 80′s, though don’t lose throwing in the other stuff. I think that Mike is great it is like having my mp3 player in the car without all the annoying extra wires…and remebering to take it out of the extreme heat..

I love Mike! I work from home and have two small children. When I feel stressed out, Mike keeps me sane and puts a smile on my face everyday. I go from feeling overwhelmed and aggravated to dancing around the kitchen with my kids. Anyone who wants the crappy music from now over and over (and over) should go listen to Kiss.
I wish there was a dance club that played this music-if there is I hope they advertise on Mike so I can find out about it!

My wife and I absolutely love Mike FM, we now have all our friends listening to it at work too. There is no where in our office where you don’t hear it. It is simply perfect. I didn’t realize how much I missed the sax from the 80s!

Mike FM stinks and so does his stupid sarcastic attitude! I hate hearing that cold rude voice especially first thing in the morning. The music is no fun and the lack of up-beat, real life, easy-to-relate-to dj’s like Ralphie, Karen and Freddie caused me to change my preset to 98.5. I gave Mike a chance but I can’t get used to the bad selection of music and the sarcastic voice of mike.

  6. IPODS can be plugged into just about anything so obivously if we are listening to the radio it is by choice. So Mike fm should stop trying to guess what’s on our IPODS and bring back star 93.7. Also, whoever thought up mike fm slogans should be fired “We play everything” eeew I want to barf everytime I hear that!! Oh and one more thing mike fm reminds me of the music being played in the car when playing grand theft auto: strang, impersonal, twighlight zone, CRAP!!

I’m kind of annoyed that there are so many Star 93.7 sticklers here and relatively few people who say they like Mike FM. Star had a short playlist, just like just about every other Boston radio station, and a lot of the music was annoying not to mention overplayed. Who needs that?

I can understand the need for at least a morning radio DJ, as I like to hear the gossip, breaking news and occasional interviews to start my day. I think Mike should get a morning program, which will give the station some character. I am however not usually fond of daytime DJ’s. They think they are interesting and that people want to hear them, but usually they are boring, annoying or shamelessly advertise something. I ESPECIALLY hate the DJ’s who do voice-overs for ads, that to me is a loss of integrity. This is why I can’t stand the talk radio format, which is full of DJs who also do the ads. A DJ should be focusing on the damn music or program, and even though I know they try to gear the ads to the sort of audience who likes a music style, I think DJ advertisements and advertising plugs during their chatter overstep the bounds.

It’s strange that Mike always announces when their going to ads. That just causes me to change the station. If I were an advertiser, I wouldn’t want that.

As for the person who said “the same people who may like music such as Led Zepplin or Boston, do not care to listen to, say, Michael Jackson or Beyonce, and visa versa” – that’s B.S. That’s EXACTLY what is wrong with most stations – their short playlists because they think we can be pigeonholed by demographic if they play the same stale short playlists over and over. I like Beyonce, Third Eye Blind and the Commodores as well as Lynyrd Skynard. I like to hear a variety of music as long as it’s “good” music, and like to be surprised sometimes with music I have not heared before or music I have not heard in a long time. The other day Mike played Jennifer Paige’s “Crush,” which I have not heard in, oh, over ten years and have no idea why stations never play it anymore. Just an example of the sort of good song you might hear when a station sticks to REAL variety. Mike just needs to get a LITTLE bit of DJ in to get a bit of character, but as far as I’m concerned I’m glad there is a station out there that strives to “play everything.” And no I’m not paid to make a positive comment like some of you Star-93.7 sticklers claim…

Alright this is like a big marketing plan! I get it!!! The executive’s of 93.7 are going to bring back the dj’s after we express are unappreciative views for a while! It seems like a page out of the WWE wrestling. They bring back Hulk Hogan to motivate revenue and 93.7 brings back the DJ’S after a long absence. What the …. are you smoking Mr. radio executive? Time to pull out the “Tony Robbins” book thats gathering dust in your top draw and stop smoking the weed. Bring back 93.7 the way it was! The joke is over.

I think Mike Stinks! I miss Ralphie, Karen, Freddie and Frankie in the morning and Lady D in the afternoon. I feel like I’m at the dentist, after a few minutes of listening I swear I can hear a drill in the background. I have CD’s and if I want to listen to just music I listen to them. In the morning and in the afternoon you need the human touch not elevator music. Stop being so cheap, yes we get it a computer can do the job for less. I have an idea why not replace the stupid executive that came up with “Mike” with a computer and give us back the djs!

I LOVE MIKE! I hate the morning shows, talk shows, and obnoxious DJs. If I want News and Weather and Traffic, I know what channels play that, I listen in and go back to MIKE. The only think wrong with MIKE is that they do play commercials. MORE MUSIC, MORE MUSIC, MORE MUSIC!!!!!!!

  13. The reason why MIKE-FM exists is because the DJ’s currently on the air on other stations SUCK! The morning show on Star was the worst ever! Karen Blake sounds like she’s from Revere — how do they let anyone with that bad of an accent on the air? Ralphie should go back to New York and drive a cab.

Do you honestly think that a station tries something like MIKE without doing thorough research? Nobody wants to hear the stale, no-talent on-air ‘no personalities’ that exist today. But, hey, that’s radio’s fault, too, because the majority doesn’t want to experiment or do something different. Why do you think Howard Stern is going to SIRIUS?

The FCC needs to get their act together and repeal the laws that allowed the big corporations to buy up all of these stations, and be able to own 5 in the same market. That’s why there is no variety, that’s why there is something like MIKE — because the industry is running out of ideas! No one needs to compete with a station that is the same format as theirs because they would be competing against themselves!

Radio was at it’s best in the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s because it was less formulaic. DJ’s were allowed to be on-air PERSONALITIES. The 80′s were passable, but the 90′s and beyond have been terrible.

As others have stated, do yourself a favor and listen to CD’s or your Ipod — turn the radio off! Send a message to the industry! Write your Congressman to get the FCC to make the necessary changes to the ownership rules. Everything will become canned, satellite, or more homogenized than it is now. Local news and traffic will cease to exist, and you’ll have to listen to the small AM stations for that stuff (if they haven’t all turned Hispanic yet).

I have stop listening to “Mike” 93.7. Not only have they gotten rid of the morning show but the music selection has changed. I want Star back. I know a lot of people who have stopped listening to 93.7 and gone to kiss.

i like most of mike’s music, not all. too much variety can be a bad thing. i like music anywhere from the seventies right up to music from today. rock, pop(like REM, not NSync), techno and video game music.(if mike ever plays any video game music, they will be my favorite station of all time). however, i do think that they should have djs.it’s like the station is completely automated and doesn’t feel alive or personal. so put the djs back(and cut the rap shit,i hate rap) and you’ve got a fairly decent radio station.

It has been months now that we haven’t had Star 93. Karen Blake just popped into my head today and I decided to Google her to see it she found a job on another station so I could tune in. I really enjoyed her and her hilarious star report. I found this site instead. Someone mentioned about streaming star 93 on the internet, I hope that is true…I’ll check it out.

Where else can you hear actual music in the morning? Talk and nonsense everywhere else. I like not knowing what is coming up next! This is what I have been waiting for. When I turn on the radio, all I want is music, and that is all I get! Music I don’t hear anymore anywhere else, too!

I have tried to listen to Mike FM every now and then. The DJs were replaced by that annoying Mike fm ad. It is a cold radio station and the music is really not that good. Don’t know what music is going to play. The DJs were fun. I listen to 104.5 now.
